Recognizing the need for a culturally adapted version, the Italian standardization of the MMPI-2 was led by Paolo Pancheri, a prominent psychiatrist and academic who held the chair of psychiatry at "La Sapienza" University in Rome. Together with Saulo Sirigatti, they curated and published the Italian version in 1995 through the "Organizzazioni Speciali" (OS) in Florence (now Giunti Psychometrics). The standardization process involved a sample of 1,375 subjects (403 males and 972 females) to ensure the test's reliability and validity for the Italian population.
