Method A: Creating a Bootable USB Drive on a Mac (Using DMG)
Once you have downloaded the native Mac installer app or the DMG file, you can create a bootable USB flash drive to install the operating system on any compatible Mac. Prerequisites A USB flash drive with at least of storage. A working Mac computer.
Open and format the drive as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) , naming the partition Untitled . Open the Terminal application.
Open the Terminal app and use Apple’s native createinstallmedia command to transfer the files. The command will look similar to this: sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Mavericks.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/MyVolume --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Mavericks.app (Be sure to replace /Volumes/MyVolume with the exact name of your USB drive).
